The City of Sydney released their Street Count figures yesterday. It is not surprising, but rough sleeping is up by 23% compared with the same time last year. 277 people were found sleeping rough in the local area, up from 225 in February last year.
First time Roughtober participant, Greg Colby, is sleeping rough in memory of his brother Les, who was a much beloved patron of Rough Edges for many years, until he passed away in July this year.

Travelling from my work this week, I was struck by this image. The owner of these items (not in the photograph) was travelling on the same train with me. I observed him sitting away from his goods, which I assumed were all his material possessions. He was sitting on a bench, about 3-4 metres from the trolley.

The Rough Edges team is taking a group of like-minded supporters to Perisher, NSW to conquer three of Australia’s tallest mountains over 18 kilometres, in one day.
